Combining Samknows unrivalled data on today's broadband services with CBN's models is providing a unique and powerful insight into the current and future broadband able to answer some of the big questions:

• What broadband speeds are available and where?
• Who is likely to fall below the proposed 2Mbps universal service commitment?
• What is the level of competition?
• Which areas are likely to be priorities for Next Generation investments?

This first map estimates where Next Generation broadband is least likely to reach.

While the second map is a quick example of the work using high-level data, building up a snapshot picture of broadband around Basingstoke.

• The green areas highlight the high-speed broadband sweet-spots where homes and businesses are able to subscribe to a variety of services including Virgin's 50Mbps packages;
• The red areas are where there is a significant possibility that typical broadband speeds may fall below the proposed 2Mbps universal service commitment;
• The blue areas are those which currently experience average broadband speeds but are too sparsely populated to be likely targets for next generation investments.
• Any areas not covered by colour blocks theoretically have some of the characteristics which might otherwise make them suitable for NGA investment but are too small to be considered by traditional network builders

The example used a small sample to generate the map - for live projects we use a representative sample to produce the level of detail needed by your project.
