Hi [FIRSTNAME]

Sewing Together the Patchwork

Representatives of the growing patchwork of local next generation broadband projects came together on 15th July for an inaugural workshop of the Independent Networks Cooperative Association (INCA) in Manchester. Also represented were major equipment suppliers and the BBC. CBN is working with this key founding group to get INCA firmly established.

The aim is to have INCA up and running by the end of the summer. Information and progress reports will be posted on the INCA website: www.inca.coop .

SAMKNOWS broadband data mapping

CBN has teamed up with Samknows to deliver a unique set of data mapping products offering a combination of the full range of data held by Samknows on broadband services together with a broad spectrum of demographic data.

This approach was used in the recent Commission for Rural Communities Report ‘Mind the Gap’ responding to the Digital Britain Report on behalf of poorly served rural communities. View BBC coverage here.

Combining the comprehensive Samknows broadband availability data with other demographic data helps to paint a detailed and unique picture of the UK’s broadband landscape, linking the technical to people and businesses. From this it is possible to see clearly those communities most disconnected today and those at risk of being left behind in the future.

CBN and Samknows are working on additional analysis to relate the information to local regional strategies enabling a set of powerful strategic tools. Recently NWDA has taken advantage of this service to underpin its strategy for next generation broadband in the North West. If you are interested in finding out more about this new service then email us here

NextGen events

For the past six months CBN, in association with Alcatel-Lucent, has run the successful series of NextGen 09 Roadshows. The last was in Manchester’s Town Hall on 23rd June. Feedback from those who attended, exhibited and sponsored has been tremendous and our events team are working hard on the next event - the NextGen 09 National Conference - scheduled for the autumn. A date will be announced very soon and partnership building is underway. If you are interested in sponsorship or exhibition opportunities then contact Andrew Macdonald here.

Roadshow presentations

Roadshow 2009 and Manchester Euro Conference presentations and webcasts are now available from the CBN website here . If there are any presentations not available from this site then contact us here with your specific request.
