Hi [FIRSTNAME] Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency, and Digital Region have joined Alcatel-Lucent as key sponsors of the NextGen 09 conference enabling us to book the fabulous Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds for the venue.
The line up of speakers is first class, starting with the Rt Hon Stephen Timms MP - who took over from Lord Carter as Minister for Digital Britain during the summer. I am sure you know that Stephen is very familiar with all things ICT & broadband; he instigated the Community Broadband Network during first generation broadband roll-out in 2003. Other speakers include key industry and community representatives covering the latest on NGA. During the conference you will find out about the new Independent Networks Cooperative Association (INCA) - the trade body for the growing patchwork of local next generation broadband projects. INCA is making good progress gathering support from public and private sector organisations working to make next generation broadband a reality throughout the country. During the conference we will announce progress on the Joint Operating Network - JON - that aims to sew the patchwork together. Nuts and Bolts In a new departure, participants in this event can elect to spend ½ day focused on the nuts and bolts of building projects. Fibrecamp Britain led by Daniel Heery of Alston Fibremoor, the nation’s most can-do advocate and builder of rural broadband networks will focus on delivering community-based NGA solutions. Digital Region Hands-On will provide a practical session for those contemplating larger projects on what one of Europe’s largest fibre projects looks like on the ground.
Must Attend Day 2 of the conference has plenary sessions interspersed with a programme of nine key workshops setting out the themes: Infrastructure, Applications & Services, Policy & Business Strategy.
New developments will be showcased and there will be plenty of opportunity to debate the issues and the way forward for Next Generation Broadband Britain. NextGen 09 is aimed at: - Senior strategists and decision-makers from the public, private and community sectors
